As the earth sustains the atmosphere and outer space accommodates the stars, galaxies, and all the rest, we are willing to carry the burdens of the world. We are inspired by the physical example of the universe. We offer ourselves as wind, fire, air, earth, and water—all the elements.

A public practice event for everyone in the community interested in the path and practices of the Bodhisattva.

We will begin with the Morning Litury for Mahayana Students, which includes the "Supplication to the Takpo Kagyu" and "The Sutra of the Heart of Trancendent Knowledge" as well as the Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows.

You are free to participate in these chants, or simply listen along. If you have not taken Refuge or Bodhisattva Vows formally, you could chant these as an aspiration, rather than formal commitment. For everyone who has taken Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows this is an opportunity to re-affirm your vows, in sangha.

The practice session will include shamatha / vipassana meditation interspersed with walking meditation, as well as the practices of Tonglen, a Four Immesurables contemplation, and a short study group around one of the Six Paramitas.

We will end with the Friendless chant and Buddhist Dedication of Merit.

Dana Offering: $15

This event is offered at whatever amount you can afford, but we would ask that as a practice of generosity you could offer $15, if possible. This generosity goes to support the operating costs of the Tucson Shambhala Center, a non-paid, volunteer operated dharma center which makes these teachings and practices available.
