Our community is diverse, capable, and heartfelt. Our members and friends include dedicated senior teachers who have walked the Shambhala Buddhist path for many years, and enthusiastic newcomers who are just discovering our teachings on realizing basic goodness and building enlightened society.
We have many opportunities to volunteer including keeping the Center clean, helping with publicity and outreach, and being time keeper for meditation (after a little training!). We hold Community Meetings every two to three months so we can hear from everyone and help us make decisions about programs and future directions. A Council of members who wish to be more deeply involved meets monthly to plan programs and classes, attend to the financial health of the center, and discuss any issues that emerge.
Currently we are forming alliances with other sanghas in Tucson to share events and work toward greater social engagement in the larger Tucson community. Please go to Empty Mountain Sangha to learn about their offerings.
