Upcoming changes to our monthly calendar – Time for a fresh start!

Dear Friends of Tucson Shambhala,

Beginning on July 1 we will be introducing a new monthly calendar with even more opportunities for practice and community!
Since taking my seat as the Director of Practice and Education in February, I’ve been contemplating the ways in which we offer practice events for people at all steps on the path. This includes new meditators, folks who have been practicing for decades, and all of us in the middle. In contemplating this, my aspiration is to open and extend further and to create a welcoming environment for everyone. To see our center as a community garden, where we all can celebrate and find joy in planting our seeds, together.
As a stream of the Practice Lineage, providing opportunities for personal and group practice is essential to our personal and societal wellbeing – “The Sangha that practices together, stays together.” At the heart of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s recent teachings is an emphasis on Being – with ourselves and with each other. My aspiration is that we can do more to support these two things, simultaneously.
There are a lot of details below which I hope express some of this new direction and vision. As always, please see our Website Calendar for the most up to date times and dates, and for more information.

Upcoming Practice and Education Open House

On Wednesday, July 11 I will be hosting a Practice and Education Open House at the center.
If you’re new to meditation, or a regular practitioner and would like clarification, this is an opportunity to learn more about our weekend retreats, practice events and educational offerings at Tucson Shambhala. We’ll begin with a short guided meditation and then open up the floor to any questions or comments you have.
This is also an opportunity to offer suggestions for programming you’d be interested in attending and provide feedback on what we are already offering. No previous meditation experience is necessary!

Cheerfully yours, in the vision of the Great Eastern Sun,
